Sen. Jim Talent believes the key to energy security is to become more energy independent. He helped pass a pro-growth, pro-jobs Energy bill to help stimulate the economy, reduce energy prices and increase America's energy independence.
As member of the Senate Energy Committee, Jim Talent is changing Washington for Missouri's energy consumers by:
- Helping pass the comprehensive Energy bill for Missouri jobs and energy security
- Passing legislation, now law, requiring oil companies to add 7.5 billion gallons of ethanol and biodiesel to the nation's fuel supply by 2012
- Supporting exploring for oil in Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge
- Co-sponsoring bipartisan legislation to access natural gas supplies in the Gulf of Mexico
- Passing legislation, now law, providing incentives for consumers to purchase hybrid vehicles like the Kansas City-built Ford Hybrid Escape
- Co-sponsoring bipartisan legislation to help stop price-gouging by the oil companies
The Energy bill that Sen. Talent helped pass last summer contained important provisions that will help lower energy prices over the long term for consumers by diversifying our energy supply and promoting energy of all kinds. Sen. Talent will continue to fight for sound energy policies for Missouri jobs and America's energy independence.
