Like nearly every Missouri family, Sen. Talent's family has been affected by breast cancer. Sen. Talent lost his mother, Marie, to the disease. Sen. Talent has fought hard in the Senate to help find a cure to this life threatening disease that affects nearly three million women in the U.S.
In 2005 and 2006, the National Breast Cancer Coalition honored Sen. Talent with their "Annual Advocacy Conference Congressional Award" for his leadership in the fight against breast cancer.
