Sen. Jim Talent understands the issues facing Missouri's agricultural community. He knows that in Missouri, agriculture is one of the pillars of our economy and that our producers are responsible for hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Sen. Talent has been a leader on the Senate Agriculture Committee because he listens to the concerns of our farmers and ranchers and effectively advocates on their behalf.

Jim Talent is changing Washington for Missouri agriculture by:

  • Passing legislation, now law, to add at least 7.5 billion gallons of ethanol and biodiesel to the nation's fuel supply by 2012
  • Opening new markets for farmers including U.S. rice sales to Iraq
  • Supporting legislation to help producers add value to their products
  • Passing legislation to protect Missouri's Farm Service Agencies
  • Co-sponsoring legislation to help lower energy costs for farmers
  • Sponsoring a plan to help lower health care costs for Missouri producers

Sen. Talent understands that our farmers and ranchers produce the safest, most abundant and affordable food in the world. In the Senate, Jim Talent will continue to support Missouri agriculture.

Sen. Talent has been endorsed by the Missouri Farm Bureau, the Missouri Corn Growers Association, the Missouri Soybean Association, the Missouri Cattlemen's Association, the Missouri Dairy Association and the Missouri Pork Association.
